So welcome to the first installment of the video diary of our motorhome in The Alps, we have just got off the ferry, the van is all packed up and here is France. We have got the map and it is probably going to take us about 10 hours. We pretty much go down to Reims, down to Lyon and accross to Chamberey and then up to The Alps. This is the first time I have actually driven a motorhome out here and I have to say it really is pretty easy. We have got a Chasson Flash 04 which has got cruise control which is great and makes it easy to drive than a car.
6 hours later, there is no worries because if I do get tired, I can just pull over and sleep for a bit, we have done that before on the way down. The French are much better set up for this sort of thing than we are, you can just pull over and sleep, but we are going to truck on today and probably get there at about midnight.
The following morning: Morning viewers, I thought I would just give you a quick glimpse of what the trailer park is like today. I have just had to dig myself out and currently we have had a foot and half of snow. Record snow for this year which is great for us, there’s a bit of work in the morning to dig ourselves out, which is all part of the adventure.
Living in a motorhome in the winter is a little bit different from the summer, because you have got all the screens on the front so you never get any light coming from the front of the van to the back of the motorhome. Also because you cannot really live outside at all, you kind of need the front for storage. The bathroom tends to get used a bit different in the winter too, after you have had your shower in the evening, you can use the bathrooom to hang up all your snowboarding gear. Other than that it is really comfortable and you have one of the best free views in The Alps. Let us go riding.
